Road sweeper manufacturer praises new Made in Britain Certification for adding “trust” and “credibility”

Road sweeper manufacturer praises new Made in Britain Certification for adding “trust” and “credibility”

Scarab Sweepers has been awarded the new Environmental and Social Value Certification for its commitment to people, planet and place

A global leader in the design and manufacture of road sweepers has praised Made in Britain’s Environmental and Social Value (ESV) Certification for delivering “trust” and “credibility” on its journey to deliver change.

Scarab Sweepers, which is part of the global Fayat Group, is on a mission to continuously improve its environmental and social practices – focusing on methods of sustainable procurement, the impact it has on the environment and local area, and how it supports its employees.

Now, the ESV Certification is complementing this mission by communicating the organisation’s commitments to the environment and society to customers and stakeholders.

Callum Huthwaite, Marketing Manager at Scarab Sweepers, said:

“In the last couple of years, we have started looking into what we can do as a large, global-reaching company to restrict our environmental impact and improve our efficiency and safety. As part of this, the ESV Certification was a perfect fit for us and came at the perfect time – we were really delighted to receive it.

“It’s a really important credential that we can showcase to our customers, adding trust and credibility that we’re not just saying something to secure an order – we’re actually geared up to support them for the future.

“This is just the starting point for us, as we see the certification as part of our bigger journey to deliver even more positive environmental and social change.”

The ESV Certification, which is available to all Made in Britain members who meet additional environmental and ethical standards, is informed by the UK Government’s Social Value Model and Procurement Act 2023 to help manufacturers stand out and sell more. Recognising that UK buyers are increasingly required to consider ESV when awarding contracts, it helps businesses promote their positive impact and gain a new commercial edge.

Callum Huthwaite continued:

“The importance of social value has never been stronger and it is becoming a huge part of public tenders. It’s vital that we can show what we’re delivering to the supply chains in the local area and how we can support our customers with more than just machine deliveries.

“The ESV Certification has definitely helped with the tendering process and made it easier, because it shows we’re really dedicated to ESV and that it’s a big part of our business. We’re really, really proud of it.”

John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain, said:

“The ESV Certification is uniquely designed to both inform and empower UK manufacturers, so I’m thrilled to hear the benefits the accreditation has brought to Scarab Sweepers and the many other businesses that are gaining advantage in this way.

“As a market leader in their field, championing British manufacturing and pushing the boundaries of environmentally conscious, performance-focused sweeping solutions, Scarab Sweepers are implementing exactly the kind of positive change that buyers, stakeholders and communities want to see – we’re helping them to articulate their ESV story to a wider, more impactful audience.

“With ambitious plans for the future, I look forward to seeing the continued success of Scarab Sweepers and hearing more about how the ESV Certification supports them on their journey to do business that’s better all round – including for their sales growth.”
