Vistry has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of James Lidgate, who joins from Taylor Wimpey where he most recently served as managing director.
In his new role, Lidgate will lead Vistry’s strategy across land, planning, sustainability and business improvement, as well as co-chairing the group’s investment committee. The move marks another senior hire as Vistry continues to advance its partnerships-led, mixed-tenure business model.
Lidgate brings more than 25 years’ experience across housebuilding and residential investment. Prior to joining Taylor Wimpey, he held a number of senior positions at Legal & General, including chief executive of L&G Homes, regional chair of CALA and head of residential at Legal & General Investment Management. His career spans affordable housing, build-to-rent, strategic land and large-scale joint venture delivery.
Vistry executive chair and chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said the appointment demonstrated the group’s ability to attract high-calibre talent from across the industry.
Commenting on his move, Lidgate said he was attracted by Vistry’s strong momentum and growth ambitions. “I’m thrilled to be joining Vistry and am very much looking forward to working with the teams across the business,” he said. “The momentum of the business is compelling, and I’m excited to contribute to the group’s ambitious growth and partnerships strategy.”
