Busan Port Authority Targets Winter Safety at North Port Sites

Busan Port Authority has launched a focused safety inspection program across construction sites involved in the North Port redevelopment, aiming to prepare the area for harsher winter conditions.

The authority is examining whether temporary works, structures, and site logistics can withstand low temperatures, strong winds, and potential snowfall. Particular attention is being paid to scaffolding stability, material storage, and access routes to reduce the risk of slips, trips, and falls.

Contractors on the North Port scheme are being asked to review their winter safety plans, including emergency response procedures and worker protection measures. The inspections are intended to identify vulnerabilities early and ensure corrective actions are taken before seasonal weather peaks.

The North Port redevelopment is a key element in Busan’s broader port modernization strategy, making uninterrupted and safe progress a priority. By tightening oversight ahead of winter, Busan Port Authority is signaling that schedule pressures must not override compliance with safety standards on site.
