Sinewave raises the bar on sustainability with B Corp score increase

Sinewave raises the bar on sustainability with B Corp score increase
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sinewave, the UK’s only B Corp-certified independent connection provider (ICP), has today announced its successful B Corp recertification, achieving an increased score of 99.3, up from 89.8 at its previous assessment. The almost 10-point improvement cements Sinewave’s position as one of the most sustainable providers in the utilities sector.

B Corp certification is awarded by B Lab to companies that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. A score of 80 is required to qualify, and the median score for a typical UK company is 50.9 – making Sinewave’s 99.3 score a mark of distinction, and the standout example among the 500-plus ICPs operating in the UK today.

“Our B Corp recertification and score reflect the hard work of our whole team and, together with our Sunday Times fastest-growing private companies award, show that our growth won’t come at the cost of sustainability,” said Adam Woodley, Sinewave CEO. “As the UK accelerates its build-out of energy infrastructure to meet net zero targets and clean power goals, it’s never been more important for businesses like ours to lead by example in how we operate, and how we help our customers reduce their emissions in the process.”

Central to Sinewave’s sustainability strategy has been the recently launched Sinewave Switch, a bespoke tracking platform that provides a project-by-project breakdown of scope 3 emissions. Switch gives customers visibility of their projects’ carbon footprints and supports more responsible design, materials, and transport decisions for new projects to reduce overall scope 3 emissions. Through Switch, the remaining carbon footprint of each project is offset using a variety of certified initiatives, including forestry, community development, and clean energy, to provide customers with carbon-neutral delivery as standard.

Since its previous B Corp certification three years ago, Sinewave has made significant strides in waste management, diverting 77% of its waste from landfill, regenerating 4,000 litres of waste oil, and achieving Simpler Recycling compliance at 100% of its sites. Alongside this, Sinewave is committed to a 10% year-on-year carbon reduction plan and to using construction materials in a more circular way.

Sinewave’s commitment to sustainability is also anchored to its investment from the Three Hills Impact fund, the sustainability-focused strategy from Three Hills, which recently achieved its own B Corp recertification.
