Deal on 200,000 sq ft of speculatively developed industrial space crowned Scottish Lease of the Year

Development and asset manager, Canmoor has been awarded a top accolade at the 2026 CoStar Impact Awards, in the Scottish Lease of the Year category.

The deal saw Canmoor secure a long lease with the UK Government on Westway 200, a brand new 202,862 sq ft unit, which was completed in early July 2025. The deal is believed to be Scotland’s largest speculative industrial and logistics letting in three decades.

Judge Stephen Lewis, managing director of HFD Property Group, said: “Industrial development delivered speculatively at this size is rare and should be rewarded, not just financially via this letting but with praise and recognition via awards like this. Not only was the risk rewarded with a letting but a letting to a government covenant, for 20 years and for a market leading rent all marks this as a stand-out transaction.”

Gregor King, Scottish Director of Canmoor said: “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award. This deal represents a significant milestone for Westway and for Canmoor’s speculative development programme, which continues to deliver best-in-class, sustainable industrial space that resonates strongly with forward-thinking occupiers. In the context of such high-quality competition, this recognition is a testament to the dedication and collaboration of our team, advisers and partners.”

Joint letting agents at Westway were JLL and Colliers, while Montagu Evans acted on behalf of the UK Government. Legal representation was provided by Brodies for Canmoor and Morton Fraser MacRoberts for the tenant.
