Duraproducts appoints Ned Birley as General Manager to drive green kerbing solutions

Duraproducts, a leading supplier of sustainable infrastructure products, has announced the appointment of Ned Birley as General Manager – Kerbing Solutions. The senior role has been created to accelerate the company’s growth and strengthen its position across the UK construction and infrastructure sectors.

In his new role, Ned will lead the expansion of Duraproducts’ kerbing portfolio by helping more organisations specify polymer kerbs in their projects. His will work closely with local authorities, housebuilders, term maintenance contractors, and key infrastructure partners, highlighting the sustainability, safety, and efficiency advantages of Duraproducts’ polymer kerbing range over traditional concrete alternatives.

A pivotal time for sustainable roadbuilding

Ned’s appointment comes as Duraproducts enters a critical phase of expansion. The company recently secured an updated BBA HAPAS certification for Durakerb, its recycled polymer kerbing solution. For the first time, this certifies the product for use across the UK’s national highways network.

In parallel, the National Highways Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works has been updated to include Polymer Kerbs in national specifications – a change that removes long-standing barriers to the adoption of recycled materials. Together, these developments position recycled polymer kerbs as a credible, approved alternative to traditional products.

Ned will leverage this legislative momentum to increase circular economy practises and drive the widespread adoption of sustainable kerbing solutions across the UK.

A strong track record in growth and leadership

With strong commercial and business development experience across the highways, infrastructure, and construction sectors, Ned most recently served as Head of Commercial – UK at Kelly Bros International, where he helped drive growth and expand the company’s UK market presence. He has also held senior roles at The Clearway Group, USL Group, Polypipe, and Stirling Lloyd Polychem Ltd. Having built a broad background in specification-led sales, strategic growth, and technical product markets, he is equipped with a well-rounded understanding of the markets he will now be helping to transform.

Phil Sutton, Founder of Duraproducts, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ned to the Duraproducts team. His experience and leadership will be instrumental as we accelerate our kerbing solutions strategy and strengthen our position in the market. Ned brings a clear, structured approach to delivering specification-led growth, and I have no doubt he will make an immediate impact. On behalf of the board, I wish him every success in his new role.”

Ned Birley, General Manager – Kerbing Solutions at Duraproducts, sad: “Joining Duraproducts at this moment feels like exactly the right move. The opportunity to take a product like Durakerb, with its credentials and approvals now firmly in place, and convert that into real growth is something I am excited to get started with.”
