Winvic has topped April’s contracts league following the award of a major £200m logistics development in the East Midlands, strengthening its position in the UK industrial and distribution market.

The 33-hectare Enderby scheme, located near Junction 21 of the M1 close to Leicester, will deliver around 1,130,000 sq ft of warehouse and distribution space across five large units, reinforcing ongoing demand for strategically located logistics infrastructure.

Willmott Dixon followed closely in second place after securing a series of building projects with a combined value of approximately £263m. The most significant of these was a £100m data centre project in the Tees Valley at Preston Farm Industrial Estate in Stockton for client Latos.

Wates Construction ranked third after securing a £108m contract to deliver long-term, essential maintenance works at HMP Manchester, formerly known as Strangeways, alongside a separate 235-home wellbeing village development in Cardiff.

Across the wider market, new contract awards fell sharply in March, with the top 50 contractors securing a combined £3bn of work, down from £3.65bn in the previous month, according to data compiled by Barbour ABI.

In the rolling 12-month league table of contract wins, Strabag retained first place, supported by its £3bn long-term Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme contract. Mace ranked second, with Balfour Beatty placed third, reflecting continued strength among major tier-one contractors despite monthly volatility in new awards.
