Transport for London has selected Amey Rail, Costain and Dragados for a £700m infrastructure improvement framework that will deliver a programme of station upgrades, tram works and step-free access schemes across the capital.
The three contractors secured places on the framework ahead of Morgan Sindall, Taylor Woodrow and Octavius Infrastructure.
The framework is intended to support the delivery of multi-disciplinary infrastructure and construction projects across the London transport network, covering stages from early contractor involvement and design through to construction and final completion. TfL said the agreement would provide greater flexibility in delivering upgrades while supporting long-term investment across stations and associated infrastructure.
Among the first schemes expected to progress through the framework are the £60m upgrade of Elephant & Castle tube station and the £80m redevelopment of South Kensington tube station. The programme is also set to include tram rolling stock replacement works together with associated power and depot infrastructure improvements, alongside TfL’s wider £200m step-free access programme aimed at improving accessibility across the network.
TfL confirmed that additional projects may be added during the life of the framework, allowing the transport authority to respond to future investment priorities and operational requirements across Underground, Overground and tram infrastructure.
The agreement will commence on 1 June 2026 and run initially until 31 May 2028, with options available to extend the framework for up to a further two years.
