Firecrest Construction has successfully completed the complex delivery of a new 40 bed care home in Bury town centre for Exemplar Health Care.
As principal contractor to the scheme, Firecrest delivered the job on budget and on time, handing over after 64 weeks for a timely opening later this year.
‘Jubilee Heights’ will provide nursing care for adults living with complex needs arising from brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities. It is the sixth Greater Manchester location for Exemplar Health Care and is expected to create round 100 employment opportunities.
The care home has been constructed on the site of the former Bury Police headquarters which was vacated in 2010 and demolished in 2016. Firecrest conducted a full site remediation exercise and groundworks before building the 70,000 sq ft facility over two and three storeys high. It also delivered full externals including car parking with EV charge facilities, lighting, and outdoor garden spaces.

“We are delighted to complete the successful delivery of Jubilee Heights, our first project for Exemplar Health Care. We specialise in delivering complex projects in the care sector and so our credentials were matched with the challenges brought forward on this site.
“As a former Police HQ, the site is located in the heart of the town, with thoroughfare that is constantly busy and quite restricted in terms of access and space. We delivered this project without disruption to the highways and adjacent sports centre, public car park and dense residential zone.
“Due to the complex needs of the care home residents, the internal provisions were very important for safety and security. We constructed four secure units, each containing 10 en-suite bedrooms, to include sensory bathrooms, an activities hub, dedicated therapy rooms and amenities. We installed specific measures for secure drug store accessibility and protection from electrics and heat appliances.”
Firecrest Construction delivered the project alongside Watson Batty Architects, Dudleys Consulting Engineers, and Pennington Choices Surveyor and Consulting.
