Union Leader Warned Off Site Amid CFMEU Threat Allegations

A senior union official says she was warned she was not safe to return to a construction site following alleged threats linked to the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU).

The union leader, who had been involved in workplace matters on the project, was reportedly told that tensions on site had escalated to the point where her personal safety could not be guaranteed. The warning is understood to have come after a series of heated exchanges and alleged intimidation involving CFMEU figures.

The incident has sharpened industry focus on site safety not just in terms of physical conditions and compliance, but also the conduct of union and management representatives. Contractors and clients are increasingly being urged to ensure that all parties can carry out their roles without fear of harassment or reprisal.

While no formal charges have been reported in relation to the alleged threats, the case is likely to add momentum to ongoing debates over union behaviour, right-of-entry practices and the balance of power on major building projects. Industry stakeholders are watching closely for any regulatory or contractual responses that could flow from the incident.
