Tonroe Group has passed the £1bn turnover milestone following a record year of growth, with expanding hyperscale data centre activity across Europe and strong UK trading helping to deliver its strongest financial performance to date.
The Gerrards Cross-headquartered technical contracting group increased revenue by 27% to £1.19bn in 2025, while pre-tax profit rose by 15% to £48m. Growth was driven largely by the rapid expansion of its international data centre operations, alongside continued demand for specialist construction and engineering services in the UK.
Tonroe Group CEO Jackie Wild said: “2025 was a year of strong growth across the Group, driven by our valued client and supply chain partnerships and sustained focus on consistent delivery.
“We also continued to invest capital in the business to enable our sustained growth as we deliver complex projects across a wide international footprint.
“With a strong pipeline confirmed for 2026 and beyond, including major capital projects spanning several years, we remain focused on delivering technical construction and engineering excellence for our clients.”
The group’s main UK contracting business, TSL Ltd, recorded a 12% increase in turnover, reaching £592m during the year. The business expects revenue to exceed £600m in the current financial year, supported by a significant secured project pipeline across sectors including logistics, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and data centres.
Despite the increase in activity, TSL’s pre-tax profit reduced slightly to £25m from £27m, reflecting changes in project mix and the impact of lower operating margins. Operating margin reduced from 5.0% to 3.9% during the year as the business delivered a broader range of technically demanding projects.
The UK division continued to strengthen its financial position, increasing cash reserves to almost £70m while expanding its workforce by nearly 48% to 372 employees. The increase in staffing reflects the company’s growing workload and the need for additional technical, engineering and project delivery expertise.
During the year, TSL completed a number of significant projects across multiple sectors. These included the delivery of two major facilities for bakery retailer Greggs, completion of a robotic fulfilment centre in the North East, handover of a large-scale data centre development in the South East and completion of an aircraft engineering hangar for airline operator Jet2.
The company also continued work on a fourth manufacturing facility at SmartParc SEGRO Derby for a major international food producer. The project forms part of the wider development of the advanced manufacturing and food production campus, which is designed to provide modern, efficient production facilities supported by sustainable infrastructure.
TSL’s workload has continued to expand across automated logistics, cold storage, advanced manufacturing and pharmaceutical facilities. These sectors require specialist technical expertise, with projects often involving complex mechanical and electrical systems, automation integration and demanding operational requirements.
Following the end of the financial year, Tonroe Group completed the sale of its Rockland Concrete division through a trade and asset transaction. The business generated approximately £20m in revenue during 2025, but the disposal allows the group to concentrate resources on its core specialist technical construction and engineering activities.
The wider group’s international expansion has been driven by strong demand for data centre infrastructure, particularly as cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital services continue to increase demand for large-scale computing capacity.
Tonroe Group’s international data centre division secured major contracts across Europe during the year, including work on one of the continent’s largest hyperscale campuses in Portugal. The division has also been active on significant projects in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain, strengthening the group’s presence in European digital infrastructure markets.
Hyperscale data centres are among the most technically challenging construction projects, requiring precise coordination of electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, security measures, structural elements and specialist building services. Delivery requires close collaboration between contractors, technology providers, engineers and operators to ensure facilities meet strict performance and reliability standards.
The growth of the data centre sector has created significant opportunities for specialist contractors capable of delivering complex technical environments at scale. Tonroe Group’s experience across engineering-led construction projects has positioned the business to support clients operating in this rapidly expanding market.
Alongside data centres, the group continues to deliver projects across sectors where technical complexity and operational performance are critical.
