Magrock has been appointed as the main contractor to deliver a new £16m David Lloyd Leisure health club at Bunford Park in Yeovil, with construction due to begin this month.

The project is expected to complete next summer and will create a flagship health, fitness and wellness destination featuring a premium gym equipped with the latest fitness technology, multiple exercise studios, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and an extensive spa and wellbeing offering.

The spa facilities will include a Himalayan salt sauna, steam room, ice cave, plunge pool, hydrotherapy pool and an outdoor spa garden, reflecting David Lloyd Leisure’s continued investment in premium health and wellness amenities.

The development will also feature a comprehensive racquets offering, comprising two indoor multi-use courts, three tennis courts housed within an enclosed air dome, six outdoor padel courts beneath a canopy-covered structure, an outdoor multi-use games area and an outdoor Battle Box exercise facility.

Situated within the Bunford Park development, the building has been designed around a steel frame supported by concrete pad foundations and enclosed with composite cladding panels.

The external envelope combines a range of contemporary finishes, including timber cladding and Corium brick slips, providing the appearance of traditional masonry while delivering a modern architectural design.

Richard Brewer, Managing Director at Magrock, said: “We are delighted to have secured our first project with David Lloyd Leisure. This development represents a significant investment in the region, providing a first-class health, fitness and wellness destination for the local community and shows Magrock’s appetite to move into the leisure sector.”
