HG Construction has secured Building Safety Regulator Gateway 2 approval for three major residential developments in Bristol, Manchester and London, allowing work to begin on projects delivering a combined 664 build-to-rent apartments and student accommodation beds.

The approvals were secured within a single month and bring the contractor’s total number of successful Gateway 2 applications to 15 since the Building Safety Act regime came into force.

The trio of schemes marks another milestone for the company as the industry continues to adapt to the enhanced building safety requirements introduced for higher-risk residential developments.

HG Construction said its integrated delivery model has helped streamline the increasingly complex Gateway 2 approval process by providing greater control over design coordination, compliance and project delivery.

The contractor now self-delivers a range of specialist packages, including mechanical and electrical services, dry lining, piling, concrete frames, tower cranes and off-site manufactured bathroom and utility pods. The company said this approach enables closer coordination across design and construction teams while supporting compliance with the Building Safety Regulator’s requirements.
