Advantage Home Construction Insurance (AHCI) has secured access to new A-rated carrier capacity through its long-standing capacity partner, Cadis MGA. The move is described by the company as one of the most significant milestones in its history and is expected to reinforce AHCI’s position as a leading provider of structural warranties and construction insurance across the UK.
The new arrangement means Advantage policies can now be underwritten by an independently assessed A-rated insurer. For developers, lenders, conveyancers and other stakeholders, this is intended to provide a higher level of financial reassurance on long-tail risks, with structural warranties typically running for 10 or 12 years.
An A rating is widely viewed as a key indicator of an insurer’s long-term financial strength and its ability to meet claims obligations. Against a backdrop of tighter regulation and heightened expectations around risk management, AHCI says the additional capacity places it among the most credible and resilient warranty providers in the market.
“This is a major milestone for the business and a reflection of the trust we’ve earned over the past decade,” said Keith Gannon, chief executive officer at AHCI. “Achieving capacity with an A rated insurer demonstrates the strength, consistency and technical excellence behind our service. It gives our clients and partners even greater confidence that their projects and homeowners are protected for the long term.”
The enhanced rating is also expected to unlock greater flexibility for clients when arranging finance and progressing transactions. Many lenders, institutions and legal teams stipulate that warranties must be backed by an A-rated insurer, so AHCI’s new capacity is likely to smooth routes to funding, particularly for schemes relying on high-street or institutional lenders.
This latest capacity sits alongside AHCI’s existing rated scheme with CGICE, its long-standing insurance partner. The business says it can now offer new and existing clients what it describes as one of the most specialised warranty and construction insurance propositions in the market.
Gannon added: “Every member of our team has played a part in reaching this point. Their expertise and commitment to doing things the right way have been instrumental. This achievement isn’t just about where we stand today – it sets the foundation for our continued growth and our ability to support even more clients with reliable, robust cover.”
AHCI’s product range includes structural defects warranties, retrospective cover, self-build and conversion warranties, contractors all-risk insurance, performance bonds and insurance-backed guarantees. With the addition of A-rated capacity, the company says it is better placed to support residential and mixed-use developments of all sizes across the UK.
