Robertson Capital Projects appoints new MD Bushnell

Scottish contractor Robertson has appointed Gary Bushnell as managing director of its investment arm, Robertson Capital Projects. He joins after a decade as chief executive of procurement support body Hub East Central Scotland.

Bushnell will lead capital investment and project development activity across the UK, working with both public and private sector clients. According to the company announcement, his experience spans education, healthcare, cultural, commercial and industrial schemes delivered through a range of procurement models.

He remains on the board of Hub East Central Scotland, which has named Brian Craig as his successor as chief executive. Bushnell originally joined the hub company in 2012 as commercial manager before being promoted to chief executive in 2014.

Robertson Capital Projects focuses on estate regeneration and asset optimisation and acts as a delivery partner for Clear Futures, a long-term UK-wide strategic partnership backing public sector sustainability, regeneration and net-zero planning. Robertson Group chief executive Elliot Robertson described the hire as coming at a “pivotal” time for public sector investment, citing Bushnell’s understanding of funding models as critical to moving schemes forward.

Commenting on the market backdrop, Bushnell said public budgets “remain under extreme pressure” but argued that Robertson’s ability to support social and community infrastructure and offer potential investment opportunities for partners can help projects secure approval. The appointment underlines Robertson’s push to position its capital projects arm as a facilitator of funded solutions in a constrained public spending environment.
