£7.7 Million Community Boost as New Kirkby Development Takes Shape

£7.7 Million Community Boost as New Kirkby Development Takes Shape
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Kirkby is set to benefit from more than £7.7 million of investment as two leading housebuilders commit to delivering major community facilities, infrastructure upgrades and green improvements for the town.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes are bringing 800 new properties to a regenerated brownfield site on Cherryfield Drive, creating a vibrant new neighbourhood named Tudor Place. The development will offer a varied mix of one to four-bedroom homes, including apartments, bungalows and 80 affordable homes, designed to meet the needs of local people.

As part of the planning agreement, the housebuilders will contribute £7.7 million to enhance local infrastructure and ensure the benefits of the development extend throughout Kirkby.

Investment into schools, healthcare and community spaces

The contributions include:

  • £4,398,720 towards additional secondary school places, supporting the educational needs of local families
  • £816,769 to expand GP capacity in Kirkby
  • £1,999,128 to improve public open spaces and local sports facilities
  • £461,901 allocated to off-site tree planting, boosting biodiversity and green coverage
  • £56,000 to fund apprenticeships, local employment and trainee placements
  • £6,500 to support a controlled parking zone in the area

Together, these contributions represent one of the most substantial community investments of its kind in the town in recent years.

A neighbourhood built around green living and connectivity

Future residents of Tudor Place will enjoy new green spaces, extensive tree planting, and safe, accessible walking and cycling routes that encourage active travel. The development includes new pedestrian and cycle links to Valley Park and Kirkby town centre, along with two new access points from Cherryfield Drive and Bewley Drive.

Improvements to the local highways network and upgrades to the existing public car park will further support smoother journeys and ease local congestion.

A lasting positive impact for Kirkby

Rhys Nicholson, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said:
“Tudor Place is about far more than delivering high-quality new homes. We’re investing in the long-term future of Kirkby and are committed to creating a development that brings genuine, meaningful benefits for the whole community.”

Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, added:
“Our contribution package will enhance schools, healthcare, green spaces and local services, helping ensure the positive impact of this development is felt right across the town. We’re excited to offer a wide range of homes for buyers in Merseyside.”
