Powerday launches new national waste service to meet demand outside the capital

20 JANUARY 2026, LONDON: Powerday, London’s leading independent waste management company, is launching a national brokerage service to meet surging demand from contractors managing major infrastructure and housing projects across the UK.

While London’s construction market shrank in 2025, regional markets grew by 5.5% – driven by a 36% increase in social and utility infrastructure (Arcadis UK). As contractors pivot to these regional projects, the challenge has shifted to managing several sites simultaneously that must individually meet tightening environmental and waste-compliance standards.

Powerday has appointed Jack Connors as Associate Director, Powerday National, to lead the expansion and deliver the company’s 100% landfill diversion solutions across the whole of the UK through a curated network of regional partners, providing a true national service.

Solving a critical challenge

The current fragmented approach forces contractors to qualify separate waste suppliers in each region and monitor performance across multiple providers. This has historically created compliance risks and operational inefficiencies.

Powerday’s new service provides a single point of contact, backed by vetted suppliers operating under the company’s standards. All approved suppliers will work under a comprehensive supplier code of conduct, ensuring the same rigorous approach to compliance, environmental performance, and service delivery that clients expect from Powerday’s London operations.

Industry expert to lead the expansion

Jack Connors brings a track record of building and scaling national waste operations. He has 13 years of waste and recycling industry experience, and joins from Greenzone Facilities Management Limited, where he most recently served as Chief Operating Officer.

Connors began his career at Greenzone in 2012 as a Customer Support Advisor, progressing through roles including Key Account Manager and Head of Operations before being appointed COO. Well-earned industry recognition has followed his day-to-day contributions, including nominations for the Resource Hot 100 List and Letsrecycle’s 35 Under 35 Awards.

His experience managing supplier networks and multi-site service delivery directly supports the brokerage expansion, with a background in scaling operations and embedding compliance frameworks that align with Powerday’s active partnership management approach.

Edward Crossan, CEO of Powerday, said: “We’re seeing significant construction activity moving into regional markets, and our major customers need waste management solutions that work at scale across multiple sites. Over 45 years, we have built strong relationships and achieved high standards in the capital. Jack’s appointment will enable us to extend that same operational rigour and client-first focus to projects wherever they’re happening next.”

“Powerday has built something impressive in London,” said Jack Connors, Associate Director, Powerday National. “The opportunity now is to extend that strong capability across the UK, giving clients in the construction sector genuine consistency wherever they’re working. It’s about bringing the same innovation, collaboration, and sustainability focus to every site, regardless of location.”
