Building Heroes and Velocity Roads Group Renew Partnership

Building Heroes and Velocity Roads Group Renew Partnership
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Building Heroes Education Foundation is delighted to announce the renewal of its Bronze Sponsoring Partnership with Velocity Roads Group, commencing 1 February 2026.

Continuing the shared mission to create meaningful opportunities for veterans, service leavers and military families within the highways, road maintenance and infrastructure sectors.

This continued collaboration reaffirms Velocity’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community as they transition into civilian careers – a commitment they first formalised through their Bronze Partnership in 2025.

A Partnership Built on Shared Purpose

Since joining as an Official Bronze Sponsoring Partner in 2025, Velocity and Building Heroes have worked together to raise visibility of Armed Forces talent and highlight careers in the road maintenance and infrastructure sector. Areas of focus have included:

• Advocacy and recognition through Armed Forces Covenant channels
• Participation in ‘Meet the Employer’ opportunities at academies
• Recruitment support and access to Building Heroes’ skilled veteran talent pool

Strengthening the Pathway from Service to Civilian Employment

This renewed commitment will ensure continued focus on recruitment and employment pathways within the highways maintenance sector while expanding opportunities for social value engagement. Learners will benefit from enhanced in cohort and on site experiences, giving them a first hand understanding of Velocity projects and real world industry practice.

Velocity’s financial support directly unlocks vital services for the Armed Forces community. Each year, this partnership enables the charity to provide funded skills training, personalised guidance, and direct employment connections for at least eight veterans or Service Leavers, helping them transition into stable, long term careers.

From national outreach to tailored placements, the Velocity partnership exemplifies the impact that industry and charity can achieve together, building not only better highways but also stronger futures for those who have served, with meaningful careers that lead to successful civilian lives.

Shared Commitment to the Community:

Chris Charles, CEO of Building Heroes, said, “Our partnership with Velocity continues to show real, tangible results. We’ve already seen a number of Building Heroes graduates’ step into fulfilling roles within the company, proving how powerful it is when industry opens its doors to the Armed Forces community. This renewed support strengthens our shared mission to give veterans the opportunity, confidence, and direction they deserve as they build new careers.”

Lee Gray, Group Finance Director at Velocity Roads Group, added, “Our continued support for Building Heroes is a clear investment in both people and the long term future of our sector. Veterans and service leavers offer talent that is immensely valuable to our business, and this partnership allows us to channel our resources into positive social impact while building a stronger workforce for the years ahead.

Looking Ahead

With renewed backing in place, 2026-27 will see Building Heroes and Velocity Roads continue building a purposeful and impactful partnership that:

• Raises awareness of the UK’s infrastructure careers
• Connects veterans with sustainable, high-quality employment opportunities
• Strengthens social value impact across both organisations
• Ensures ongoing visibility and engagement through joint engagement and shared communications
