Optavo Launches AI Automation to Fix UK Construction’s £3.8bn Admin Problem

Optavo Launches AI Automation to Fix UK Construction’s £3.8bn Admin Problem

Optavo has today announced its official launch, offering AI-powered workflow automation and systems integration to plant hire and construction businesses across the UK. The company is on a mission to address an estimated £3.8 billion in operational admin costs that are draining time, money, and growth potential from the UK construction sector every year.

Optavo works to identify precisely where manual processes are costing time and money, then delivers bespoke automation solutions that enable businesses to scale without increasing headcount. Optavo’s customers, including Watling JCB Limited, are already handling double the volume of business with their existing teams.

Optavo diagnoses first and automates second. Every engagement begins with a detailed mapping of where time and cost are being lost, followed by a bespoke automation plan with a defined return on investment. Services cover AI process automation, systems integration across more than 20 platforms, custom software development, and operational dashboards that give leadership teams clear, real-time visibility across the business.

Fred Telfer, Founder & Managing Director, Optavo, says: “Construction and plant hire businesses are managing enormous complexity every single day: fleets, hire cycles, maintenance schedules, customer communications, finance, and yet so much of it is still held together by spreadsheets and manual processes. Not because people want it that way, but because no one has ever built something specifically around how this industry works. That is exactly what Optavo is here to do.”

Dan Thompstone, Managing Director, Watling JCB Limited, says: “Optavo is the first tech partner that actually understands the complexities of our machinery sales and service business. Their ability to automate our workflows through bespoke systems and APIs has allowed us to focus on growth rather than paperwork. We’re now running a much leaner, smarter operation, maximising the time we spend on satisfying our customers.”

The UK’s national infrastructure pipeline now stands at £718 billion, covering more than 700 planned projects over the next decade. For plant hire and construction businesses, that represents an enormous commercial opportunity, but only for those already lean enough to move quickly. Optavo gives them exactly that edge.
