Method Consulting announces the launch of its new Structural and Civil Engineering Division, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth and further strengthening its position as a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.

The new division will be led by Matt Sellen, Chartered Structural Engineer and newly appointed Partner. Based in Method Consulting’s London office, Matt will support projects across the South of the UK.

With extensive experience across a wide range of sectors, Matt brings a strong track record of delivering technically challenging, design‑led structural and civil engineering solutions for leading London consultancies.

His portfolio spans new‑build developments, major refurbishments and specialist structural assessments, with expertise across both traditional and design‑and‑build procurement routes — ensuring the delivery of best‑value outcomes  tailored to the specific needs of each project.

In his role, Matt will play a pivotal part in developing Method Consulting’s structural and civil engineering capability. The launch of the division strengthens the firm’s multidisciplinary offering, enabling the delivery of fully integrated MEP, Structural, Civil and Sustainable Engineering services.

For over a decade, Method has built a reputation for delivering intelligent engineering solutions that combine expert technical analysis with a “sustainability‑first” approach. The introduction of a dedicated Structural and Civil Engineering Division, led by an engineer of Matt’s calibre, significantly enhances this capability and strengthens Method’s position as a truly multidisciplinary practice.

Alex Mason, Partner – Digital Engineering, said:

“Expanding our offer to include Structural and Civil Engineering services is an important step in the continued growth of Method Consulting. It reflects the way our clients increasingly need projects to be delivered and close collaboration, clear accountability and well‑coordinated design is our approach. By bringing MEP, structural and civil expertise together, we can provide a more integrated service that supports faster decision‑making, stronger communication and a more responsive approach to project challenges.”

Alex added:

“Our experience supporting projects delivered under the Building Safety Act, including schemes progressing through Gateway 2, has reinforced just how critical coordinated, high‑quality design information and robust multidisciplinary collaboration have become. Bringing these services in‑house allows us to offer a more joined‑up, efficient and resilient service, helping clients navigate increasingly complex design, compliance and approval requirements with confidence. Ultimately, this approach is about making things simpler and more effective for our clients. It enables better coordination, reduces risk and helps projects move forward with greater confidence through design development, review and approval.”

Commenting on Matt’s appointment, Alex said:

“Having worked with Matt previously and known him for many years, I am confident that his expertise, focus and understanding of our clients’ needs will help ensure we deliver real value through this offering”.

Matt Sellen, Partner – Structural and Civil Engineering, said:

“I’m delighted to be joining Method Consulting at such an exciting stage in its growth. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to establish and lead a new Structural and Civil Engineering division within such a progressive, multidisciplinary environment.”

He added:

“I’m looking forward to working closely with colleagues and clients to deliver integrated, design-led solutions and help shape the next phase of Method’s development.“ Clients, partners, and project teams interested in learning more about Method’s structural engineering capability or discussing upcoming projects are encouraged to get in touch.
