Bauer Technologies has secured the specialist piling and geotechnical works contract for The Dovetail Building, a 24-storey mixed-use tower planned in the City of London. The scheme, commissioned by Deconstruct UK on behalf of developer Brockton Everlast, includes a three-level basement and high-specification office and retail space designed to meet modern sustainability and performance benchmarks.
The ground engineering package will be delivered in two phases to accommodate archaeological investigations by the Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA). This approach is intended to maintain programme momentum while allowing MOLA access to key areas of the site between piling operations.
Phase one, scheduled from November 2025 to February 2026, will see Bauer extract redundant piles and install around two-thirds of the new secant retaining wall. Phase two, running from June to September 2026, will complete the front-of-wall cased CFA secant pile line along the party boundary and deliver the remaining foundation and bearing piles, together with temporary works for tower cranes and a gantry.
The project team is targeting a reduced carbon footprint through a series of material and fuel choices. These include low-carbon reinforcement steel, concrete with blended cement from a local batching plant, and the use of 100% HVO fuel across all site plant.
Bauer is also introducing waste-reduction measures aimed at optimising material use and limiting environmental impact over the life of the project. The company sees the job as an opportunity to demonstrate how complex deep foundation solutions can be delivered in a dense urban setting with a strong focus on sustainability.
Commenting on the award, Bauer Technologies Managing Director John Theos said the firm was pleased to be working again with Deconstruct UK on a major London scheme. He described The Dovetail Building as a technically demanding, sustainability-led development that plays to Bauer’s strengths in innovative, responsible delivery in the capital’s built environment.
