Exciting Proposals for Next Phase of Porth Copr to Go on Show

Exciting Proposals for Next Phase of Porth Copr to Go on Show
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Urban Splash is exploring options for 7 Porth Copr, on part of the former St David’s Shopping Centre site, including 57 apartments, cafés, restaurants and a new public courtyard called Frog Yard, inspired by the historic Frog Street in Swansea city centre.

Discussions with organisations currently using buildings in the Porth Copr area are continuing, and a relocation and repurposing plan will need to be agreed ahead of any construction phases.

Residents and businesses are invited to view the initial ideas and share their views at Y Storfa on Oxford Street on Monday November 2, from 10.30am to 5.30pm.

Swansea Council Leader Rob Stewart said: “These are initial ideas on how we can phase the redevelopment of Porth Copr.

“We want to develop these proposals with the people of Swansea and hear what people think before proposals are developed any further, but we’re determined to see this part of Swansea city centre brought back into use, with more homes, businesses, shops and public spaces helping support the wider city centre. “

David Warburton, Development Director at Urban Splash, said: “This is another exciting step in the transformation of Swansea city centre, and we’re looking forward to showing people what could come next at Porth Copr.

“We’re at an early stage and want local people to help shape the plans, so we’d encourage everyone to come along, take a look and share their views. Feedback will help shape what happens next.”

An online opportunity to comment will also soon be announced, with further consultation also planned before any planning application is submitted.
