Staticus has been appointed to supply the façade package for Vista South Bank, the major London redevelopment project being delivered for Mitsubishi Estate by CO—RE, Multiplex and Make Architects.
The riverside development involves the 60,000 square metre regeneration of the former ITV Studios site to create a mixed-use office and cultural destination scheduled to open in 2029.
The scheme will comprise a 25-storey office tower linked to two smaller buildings of 14 and six storeys.
Positioned on one of the few London sites offering unrestricted panoramic views across the River Thames, the building has been designed to maximise transparency across its three river-facing elevations.
Staticus will utilise a Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) system intended to deliver high thermal performance while reducing solar heat gain and maximising natural daylight and river views.
The CCF system forms a key part of Make Architects’ design approach for the project. The principal façades have been designed as stacked “sugar cubes” using high-specification low-iron glazing intended to maximise transparency from within the building while minimising external colour distortion in the glass.
Darker recessed single-skin façades have been incorporated to create visual contrast and give the appearance of the glazed cubes floating within the overall structure.
The façade system also supports the building’s environmental performance targets, which include a 5 Star NABERS rating and BREEAM Outstanding certification.
Openable windows have been incorporated to support natural ventilation, while horizontal shading fins and insulated opaque panels are intended to reduce solar heat gain and improve energy performance.
In addition to the primary façade package, Staticus’ scope of works includes soffits, bolt-on steel balconies, glass balustrades, living green walls, doors and high-span stick curtain walling systems.
