From paint tins to positive change: Leyland and Dulux raise over £18,000 for St Mungo’s

Leyland and paint giant, Dulux, have together raised £18,430 for leading homeless charity, St Mungo’s, following a two-week fundraising initiative across Leyland’s London network of decorating stores.

From 1–14 December 2025, Leyland and global paint brand AkzoNobel pledged to donate £2 for every tin of Dulux Trade or Dulux Heritage (750ml or larger) sold in-store and online across the network of Leyland stores in London. The campaign saw strong support from tradespeople and DIYers, helping to generate vital funds for services supporting people experiencing homelessness.

The cheque was formally presented to St Mungo’s at the newly opened Leyland Tower Bridge Road store, marking both the success of the campaign and the retailer’s continued investment in the local community.

St Mungo’s has been on the frontline of homelessness in London for over 55 years and also runs services in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Brighton, Bristol, Oxford and Reading. New figures show that 4,711 people slept on the streets of London between July and September 2025 – and nearly half of them were doing so for the first time. This rise is being driven by the ongoing housing and cost of living crisis, leaving thousands without a safe place to call home.

Martin Hastings, CEO of Leyland, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have raised over £18,000 for St Mungo’s through this campaign. With 36 Leyland stores across the capital – including the recent opening of our Tower Bridge Road store – we’re firmly rooted in these communities. Seeing our customers come together to support such an important cause shows the positive impact our industry can have.”

Peter Howard, Sustainability, Regulatory & Partnership Lead at AkzoNobel Decorative Paints UK (parent company of Dulux), added: “This initiative demonstrated the power of collaboration between brands, retailers and customers. Every tin of Dulux Trade or Dulux Heritage purchased helped make a real difference, and we’re delighted with the funds raised for St Mungo’s and the people they support.”

St Mungo’s is a leading homelessness charity with national influence. The organisation works in partnership with local authorities, health colleagues and communities to end homelessness and rebuild lives. Last year, the charity supported approximately 26,000 people who were homeless, or at risk of homelessness, through 138 services, supporting almost 2,000 people every night.

Hetti Hartnall, Senior Corporate Partnerships Lead at St Mungo’s, said: “We’re hugely grateful to Leyland, Dulux and everyone who supported this campaign. The funds raised will help people move away from the streets and rebuild their lives, providing support, accommodation and opportunities for a more stable future.”

St Mungo’s also runs a construction skills programme, giving people access to accredited training in painting, wallpapering, plumbing, dry lining and more – opening doors to secure employment and long-term stability.
