Willmott Dixon is preparing to start work on the £24m second phase of the Kingshurst Village Centre regeneration in Solihull after the council approved the funding package needed to move the scheme into construction.
Work is expected to begin before the end of the year on a 28,000 sq ft community, health and retail building, alongside six homes, a new vicarage and improvements to roads and parking.
The new centre will bring GP services, a dentist, pharmacy and optician under one roof, alongside a library, community space, café and Co-op store.
Solihull Council has secured £8m from the West Midlands Combined Authority, with the remainder of the funding coming from council investment and other sources.
Willmott Dixon completed the first phase of the regeneration in 2024, delivering 25 affordable homes, and was subsequently appointed to design the second phase.
The wider scheme is intended to replace Kingshurst’s ageing precinct-style shopping centre and provide new community and commercial facilities. Improvements to Kingshurst Park have already been completed as part of the wider regeneration programme.
