Mears wins £450m Birmingham council housing maintenance contract

Birmingham City Council has appointed Mears to deliver a range of services to its council housing stock, including maintenance, gas servicing, heating installation, and improvement programmes.

The contract, valued at an estimated £450m over an initial 10-year period, will cover 11,500 council homes in the city’s west-central region. The council also has the option to extend the agreement for a further five years.

Mears chief executive Lucas Critchley said: “This is a very significant contract award for the group and an important new customer relationship. The group remains highly selective in bidding for new work. The nature of this contract—an all-encompassing, long-term asset management arrangement—forms the bedrock of our forward strategy. It provides continued opportunities to deliver high-quality, impactful contracts to our clients while supporting growth in our maintenance division. We look forward to establishing a strong presence in Birmingham and welcoming around 170 new colleagues to Mears.”
