Graphene Concrete Innovator Versarien Moves Toward Administration

Graphene specialist Versarien, whose products have been promoted as part of the “future of construction”, has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator. The move places the AIM-listed business under immediate financial pressure as it seeks a buyer.

The company’s portfolio includes Cementene, a graphene-enhanced concrete admixture designed to increase strength while reducing embodied carbon. Versarien has previously trialled its technology on HS2 and last year entered into an agreement with Balfour Beatty to develop new products.

Versarien confirmed that trading in its shares has been suspended while it explores rescue options over the next ten days. Advisory firm Leonard Curtis has been appointed to seek a transaction with interested parties, and the company has warned that if no deal is reached within that period, a formal administration process will follow.
