Gateley Smithers Purslow (GSP), the multi-disciplinary surveying, engineering and architecture practice arm of professional services group, Gateley, is celebrating after retaining platinum status of its Investors in People (IIP) ‘We invest in people’ accreditation for a decade.

The internationally recognised standard for people management is awarded to companies that demonstrate exemplary investment and dedication in building strong workplace cultures through effective people management, leadership and development.

Companies undergo a detailed accreditation process involving a thorough assessment of practices and policies, alongside an employee survey and individual interviews with team members, including senior management.

In 2016, GSP was within the top one per cent of worldwide organisations and the first within its industry peer group to achieve IIP platinum status. Since then, the consultancy has undergone periods of significant business transformation and rapid growth, including its acquisition by Gateley in 2022, while continuing to retain its core values and maintain platinum accreditation status.

The latest assessment results revealed that GSP had a 96 per cent response rate to its employee survey, outperformed its industry and the IIP average in nine indicator areas and was ranked as high performing in 25 of the key 27 framework markers.

Andrew Bussey, managing director at Gateley Smithers Purslow, said: “Celebrating a decade of retaining IIP platinum status is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating that our commitment to developing and supporting our people is continuously at the forefront of all that we do.

“It’s been a really turbulent few years for the property and construction sectors, and the consultancy has experienced major business changes and rapid growth following its acquisition by Gateley. However, throughout all of this, our core values of inspiring our people and delivering results to delight our clients has always remained a constant. This outstanding outcome really is testament to our brilliant people and their continuous dedication, and I cannot thank them enough for all their support.”

Founded in Rutland in 1978, Gateley Smithers Purslow’s multi-disciplinary surveying, engineering and architecture offering for the property, construction and insurance sectors has now grown to a total headcount nearing 200 people across 21 locations.
