Midlands contractor, G F Tomlinson, has been appointed as one of six contractor partners on the new Constructing West Midlands (CWM3) Medium Works Framework.

The four-year framework (with a two-year extension option), which is managed by Acivico on behalf of local authorities, will provide a procurement route for public sector construction projects across the West Midlands, with individual projects valued from £250k, with no upper limit. The framework has an estimated spend of £3 billion over its term.

G F Tomlinson’s appointment to CWM3 builds on its involvement in the previous CWM2 framework and its long-standing relationship with public sector clients across the West Midlands. The Medium Works Framework Lot will see the delivery of projects valued between £2 million and £15 million.

CWM was established in 2011 and has delivered a wide range of capital projects for local authorities, education providers, health organisations and other public and third-sector bodies across the region. Its scope includes new-build projects, extensions, remodelling, retrofit, refurbishment and infrastructure works.

G F Tomlinson’s has worked on a range of projects through the framework including the refurbishment of the Coroners Court for Birmingham & Solihull Coroner’s Service, Garden Village Primary Academy in Tamworth for Staffordshire County Council in partnership with Entrust, and the recently completed Greywood Primary Academy and Nursery School in Lichfield, also for Staffordshire County Council in partnership with Entrust.

The appointment builds on G F Tomlinson’s wider association with the West Midlands, having worked on a number of frameworks and projects for public sector organisations in the region for more than 25 years.

The CWM3 framework was procured through a single-stage open procedure, with tenders assessed against cost, technical and quality criteria alongside social value.

Andy Sewards, Group Chairman at G F Tomlinson, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to the new Constructing West Midlands framework and to continue our relationship with CWM and its public sector clients across the region.

“Having worked on previous frameworks with various public sector organisations across the West Midlands for more than 25 years, we have a strong understanding of the region and the needs of the communities we work in.

“This appointment is a great opportunity to build on that experience and continue delivering high-quality construction projects that provide long-term value for public sector clients and the communities they serve. We are particularly pleased to be able to build on the work delivered through CWM2 and look forward to working collaboratively with CWM, its clients and supply chain.”

Damian Donnelly, Associate Director at CWM, said: “We are pleased that G F Tomlinson will continue its involvement with CWM through the CWM3 Medium Works Framework. The company has a strong track record of delivering public sector projects across the region, including through CWM2, and we look forward to building on our established relationship to deliver high-quality projects that provide long-term value and positive outcomes for communities across the West Midlands.”
