Graham has been appointed to support the delivery of a 960-bed student accommodation development at the University of Bath’s Claverton Down campus.
The contractor will work with the university under a two-stage pre-construction services agreement awarded through the Southern Construction Framework, positioning it for the main construction phase once the design is finalised.
The proposed scheme will be located on the eastern edge of the campus and is intended to expand capacity for first-year students, responding to sustained demand for university-managed accommodation.
The development will include a mix of en-suite cluster flats and townhouse-style units, alongside shared kitchens, study areas, social spaces, a games room, laundry facilities and flexible-use rooms designed to support year-round activity.
Rod McMullan, contracts director at Graham said the scheme would be shaped around low-energy design and operational efficiency, with the buildings targeting Passivhaus principles.
Air source heat pumps and a fabric-first design approach are also planned, forming part of the university’s broader strategy to reduce operational carbon and enhance building performance.
